As South Korea managed to flatten the curve and hurdle the challenges brought about by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) global health pandemic, a shocking sex scandal has surfaced on the Telegraph app, in a chat group called Nth Room. In response, Kpop idols Chanyeol and Baekyun have started two petitions to release the identities of the perpetrators to hold them fully liable for their deplorable crimes.

According to a report by All Kpop, EXO's Chanyeol and Baekyun posted links to their separate petitions to hold the criminals liable for the rampant abuse of young Korean women who were blackmailed into performing sordid acts online.

Chanyeol's petition could be accessed through https://t.co/rJoE21i6rz?amp=1 while Baekhyun's petition can be signed through https://t.co/uMb9Ervi3a?amp=1. Chanyeol's petition calls for the release of all information regarding the suspects while Baekyun's petition calls for the punishments of all suspects linked to the Nth Room.

Girl's Day Hyeri also expressed outrage over the magnitude of the new sex scandal to rock South Korea.

"I am completely furious and terrified at the same time. I hope that they will be punished severely for the crime that they committed," she said on Instagram story.

Nth Room is a scam where operators lure young women into applying for part-time jobs in exchange for money and gift certificates. They are later blackmailed into performing pornographic acts for their clients.

According to a report by Kpopstarz, around 70 young women were victimized by Nth Room where they were forced to perform acts such as writing the word "slave" on their skin with a knife, putting a pair of scissors inside their private parts, cutting out nipples and eating feces. Some were raped by assigned people.

The footages of these women were distributed through Telegraph chatrooms which were reportedly accessed by 260,000 people.

A man identified only by the name Baksa or Doctor has been arrested by police in connection to the crime and netizens are currently calling for authorities to release his identity to the public. South Korea's Cyber Safety Department of Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency also arrested 13 of his accomplices. Four of the suspects are currently behind bars.

Actress Son Soo Hyun also sounded off on social media calling for authorities to punish the perpetrators with the heaviest punishment. Other celebrities to condemn the Nth Room scandal were Moon Ga Young, Baek Yerin, Lady Jane, Simon Dominic, Kwong Jung Ryul, VIXX's Ravi, Huckleberry P, Rhythm Power, Geegooin, Yoo Seung Woo, Palo Alto, Go Young Bae Jo Kwon, Don Spike, and Yeonwoo.
