Beijing announced that it would be ready to help and supply face masks in bulk to the United States as the pandemic spreads throughout the country. However, US President Donald Trump's language in addressing China might be an issue in solidifying trade deals between the countries.

According to the New York Times, American front-liners are running short of face masks to protect themselves against the deadly pandemic. They are also in need of more protective medical equipment that is usually supplied by China. The latter, being the largest producer of these products, has increased its factory output and has manifested its willingness to supply to other countries in need.

However, acrimonious relations have been escalating between Washington and Beijing that could complicate the supply of Chinese-made face masks to American clinics and hospitals. The report claimed that a breakdown of global businesses moving goods by air worldwide is getting costlier.

Recently, China and the US reached a truce on the trade war as both countries face similar problems. These countries also received backlash from the public on how they handled the spread of the pandemic. The misunderstandings between the US and China, the report claimed, could hinder developments for the supply of face masks from the latter.

It was also revealed that the Trump administration might be too proud to purchase these goods from China. According to senior Trump administration trade official Peter Navarro, the US might object to China delivering face masks and other protective medical gear as the country sees the efforts of the other as propaganda. According to Navarro, such efforts might be to boost the presence of China in the US.

Navarro said that the White House is finding help to provide the American people with sufficient supplies to battle the pandemic. He also added that if there would be a need to send airplanes to get those supplies, then the full force of the government and the use of its private enterprises has reached its maximum capacity.

He also revealed that the US is willing to acquire these products from China and would welcome the help if offered. He also highlighted that there is no need for a propaganda exercise when the world is experiencing a crisis and that the actions of the Chinese Communist Party and the US should cooperate to rise above the challenge.

The report revealed that American officials announced the need for 3.5 billion masks to battle against the year-long pandemic. Even local health officials in the US such as nurses and doctors face hazards as they serve the public.

According to the marketing director at Dongguan Witop International Trade Ida Zhang, factories are producing more protective equipment every day. He revealed that Beijing has forced personal protection equipment producers to do this especially those that would supply their goods to Western countries.
