This week, the royals received some concerning news about Prince Charles, who tested positive for the coronavirus. However, some good news is also in order from Prince William as the coronavirus relief he launched last week, under the National Emergencies Trust, apparently raised $13.7 million (£11 million).

A tweet from the organization indicated that Prince William's fundraising efforts bore results in just a matter of weeks. The National Emergencies Trust was able to raise a lot of money that will be used to help the most vulnerable sector against this pandemic.

At least 46 local communities across the U.K. will benefit from the donations. National Emergencies Trust Chairman Lord Dannat expressed delight for the support in a statement. The money received from the fundraising will soon be rolled out to the organizations that are helping the people, especially in this public health crisis.

Just before Prince William and Kate left for Anmer Hall with the kids, the Duke of Cambridge released a video to launch the fundraising campaign. In it, Prince William said that following the charity's official launch last year, he actually dreaded the day that they will have to come together for an emergency like the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Prince William said that he is also grateful that such a trust exists so that they can help many people in the U.K. The hope is that the money raised will be funnelled through the appropriate channels and used in the best ways, as Prince William said.

A few days before leaving to go into isolation away from London, the U.K.'s coronavirus epicentre, Prince William and Kate also visited the NHS 111 centre to check up on the workers in the emergency call centre. They were able to tour the cite and talk to the people taking calls for the frontlines.

This week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had their kids join the Clap for Carers campaign to thank everyone working to save lives at various hospitals in the U.K. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis honored the heroic frontliners with an enthusiastic clap, which was shared on the Kensington Royal Instagram.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate aren't likely going to have royal engagements in the weeks to come as the government is asking the public to stay at home. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge could be expected to step up while Prince Charles recover and Queen Elizabeth take precautions against the virus.
