The Cambridges are now considered the face of the royal family with the absence of other senior royals. Hence, they are said to be being "fast-tracked" to lead the monarchy as they are now being prepared in case an unfortunate event happens.
According to Celebrity Insider, in an upcoming article in the April issue of Woman's Day, a palace insider talked about the preparations that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are undergoing. "Kate and William are facing the biggest challenge of their lives, and preparations to step up and lead the royal family are well underway," the source said.
The coronavirus outbreak in the United Kingdom is not only one of the most testing times in history, but also one of the most challenging times for the royal family. As Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles have to isolate themselves for a long while for being susceptible to the disease, the burden now falls on Prince William and Kate Middleton's shoulders.
The two openly accept their roles and are determined to fulfil them, but it cannot be helped for them to feel some fears, as these are all happening in fast phase -- faster than they thought. However, body language expert Alison Ward told Daily Express that it looked like Prince William and Kate Middleton "feel much more comfortable in their heightened roles."
Aside from leading the monarchy during the coronavirus outbreak, they have been upping up their game for the past few months following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal exit. These two royal families have been often compared, although commentators often insisted that they both have different roles in the royal family.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are set to be king and queen. They are expected to have more prominent roles than that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the monarchy. However, their departure only means that William and Kate will be on the center stage and who hold the future of the royal family.
Fitzwilliams added that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's so-called Megxit only clear the way for Prince William and Kate Middleton to "shine in the global spotlight." William even proved this when he addressed the nation about the coronavirus outbreak in the U.K., acting like a real king.
