New Amsterdam season 2 finale will be arriving within a few weeks on NBC, with the title "Matter of Seconds." Due to the COVID-19 concerns, the production halted before the original ending. Yet, this episode proved to be an interesting one as it would feature a story that's currently happening around the world. The characters will be dealing with something similar to what's going on right now.
In New Amsterdam season 2 finale, multiple patients throughout the hospital started to show similar and alarming symptoms. Bloom and Sharpe will try to figure out the root of the issue. Perhaps, all of them have the same illness, which could be unknown to the doctors. So, they need to find out why these patients are having similar symptoms and where it all began.
As for what else we can expect in New Amsterdam season 2 finale, Iggy attempts to create peace for a divorced couple amid a dangerous situation, while Kapoor experiences a flirtatious encounter. As for Max, he met a child with a muscular disease. He is desperate to try to get this child into the country's only clinical trial that could potentially extend his life.
Meanwhile, since the series shut down its production and opted to air an alternative finale, there may not be huge cliffhangers in this episode. While there could also be longer arcs here, there won't be much when it comes to closure. CarterMatt noted that the finale may just be a standard episode, which isn't actually a bad thing at all.
Yet, some moments could also lead viewers to some exciting stuff in the next season. Perhaps, the remaining episodes this season will be part of the next installment and will build new stories for some of the characters. The good news is that the future of the series is already secured since it was renewed for an additional three seasons back in January.
In a related report, NBC decided to pull the flu pandemic episode. Originally, the episode titled "Pandemic" and later on renamed "Our Doors Are Always Open," which will supposedly air next week, April 7. According to Deadline, this flu pandemic episode will now air at a future date, and the episode arriving within a few weeks will serve as the season finale.
New Amsterdam season 2 finale airs on Tuesday night, Apr. 14, on NBC.
