Meghan Markle's latest family video from Britain is drawing attention to Prince Harry's apparent ease after returning to the U.K., with a body-language expert describing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as relaxed and showing a "real lack of tension" in the carefully selected footage.
The Instagram reel, posted Sept. 13, offers a rare glimpse of Harry, Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, spending time outdoors. Scenes include Harry fishing from a small boat, Lilibet riding a bicycle and the family walking through wooded and countryside settings.
The footage comes less than three weeks after Harry and Meghan returned to Britain on Aug. 26 following six years based in California. The couple remain outside the working Royal Family and haven't resumed representative duties for King Charles III.
"In terms of their posture, they both seem incredibly chilled and appear to have taken to country life very well," body-language and behavioral expert Darren Stanton, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, said of the video.
"Meghan's body language suggests that she feels very comfortable in the environment, while Harry seems completely in his element being back in the lifestyle he grew up with. There's a real lack of tension in both of them," Stanton added.
His assessment is an interpretation of visible behavior rather than evidence of Harry or Meghan's private emotional state. The clips were selected and published by Meghan, and the short montage doesn't provide enough context to establish when every scene was recorded or how the couple felt outside the moments shown.
Stanton singled out the fishing footage, where Harry is shown smiling while holding a rod on a small boat. He described the duke's "huge, beaming smile" as consistent with someone enjoying the surroundings.
"His posture was very relaxed, and there was nothing particularly rigid or controlled about the way he was carrying himself," Stanton said.
He offered a similar interpretation of Meghan's appearance, pointing to her posture and demeanor in the footage. "Neither of them appears to be displaying any obvious signs of stress or discomfort, and there's a real sense of ease between them," Stanton said.
The informal presentation contrasts with the more controlled setting of an official royal engagement. Meghan hasn't identified the precise location of the footage, and the family's U.K. residence hasn't been publicly confirmed.
The video also arrives amid heightened attention to the Sussexes' security and living arrangements. Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, initially attended an undisclosed British school after the family's return but were moved after two days following discussions between their parents and security team over the practicalities of the arrangements.
The schools haven't been identified publicly. Harry and Meghan's spokesperson has said the decision shouldn't be interpreted as criticism of the first school, which the children were reported to have enjoyed.
Their return has also renewed scrutiny of Harry's relationship with the Royal Family. Charles was reportedly informed of the couple's plans shortly before their relocation became public, while Harry has had contact with his father since returning to Britain.
The Palace has separately reaffirmed that Harry and Meghan remain non-working royals. Guidance issued at Charles's direction on Sept. 7 restated that they stopped undertaking representative duties for the sovereign in 2020, their HRH styles remain in abeyance and their charitable activities are conducted privately.
