Apple reportedly has plans to launch the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 this month despite the fact that the coronavirus has kept most at home. Though that can be done in the same way that Huawei released its P40 series, the question now is whether that would be feasible?

The situation now is far different from the time of the Huawei P40 Series launch. Revealing the new iPhone offering would be grand but it may not translate to the sales numbers the Cupertino company is expecting. It remains that most are not interested in getting a new phone right now even if it is Apple's budget-friendly offering to the masses. There are more essential things to worry about right now such as food and medicine, placing gadgets potentially at the end of the list of wants.

According to Jon Prosser, the original plan was to launch the iPhone 9 on Apr. 15 and have it ready for shipment by Apr. 22. But at the bottom of his tweet, it was mentioned how all these plans are subject to change. Considering that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to dwell, there are repercussions if Apple wants to hit their target revenue numbers.

For one, demand for gadgets is expected to take a big hit - not just now but for the coming months. Most are struggling to find ways to earn and settle bills, figures that could escalate if not paid on time. Though some have eased up and given consumers some reprieve, it remains that these remain expenses that need to be settled. Some are blessed to be still getting income although there are others who have seen their wages get slashed due to financial concerns.

On the part of Apple, the case of the iPhone 9 may not be that different from their plans for the iPhone 12 this fall. In a previous post, it was mentioned how the Cupertino company is contemplating on pushing back its launch by a couple of months. With the situation most are in right now, it may be a wise move to do the same for the iPhone 9.

Then again, Apple could still push through with its planned launch but defer its shipment and availability. Building awareness that there is a new iPhone available would be sufficient. But as far as finding ways for consumers to buy or get it is another thing - something that is likely to need time to address.
