Fans of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, popularly known as the Song-Song couple from their Descendants of the Sun days, faced yet another blow with the news that the house the couple lived in during their brief marriage, is being demolished.
According to a report by Koreaboo, the marital home of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo which was purchased by the actor for ₩10 billion KRW is already being demolished. The process began last month.
Based on the demolition and reconstruction plan, the Song-Song couple's former home will be replaced with a new house with a total of five floors. Three of these will be above ground while two floors will be underground.Reports indicated that the major project is expected to the completed by June 2021.
It was reported by South China Morning Post that the permit for the constriction was already approved for a while but construction only began recently. The delay was attributed to the Song-Song couple's division of assets.
As a result, fans who were hoping for a reconciliation between Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo were devastated by reports of the demolition as this heralded an end to their desire to see the former couple back together.
In a statement issued by Song Joong Ki's new agency, History D&C, they refrained from elaborating on the development since it did not concern the actor's professional engagements.
"As it is Song Joong Ki's private life, we can not confirm anything," the agency stated.
It can be recalled that before confirming their relationship and marriage plans, Song Joong Ki bought the property situated in the Itaewon district for ₩10 billion KRW in January 2017. The purchase sparked rumors that he was preparing to get married to his Descendants of the Sun co-star Song Hye Kyo.
The Song-Song couple only confirmed their relationship in July 2017 and announced that they were planning to get married in October of the same year.
Unfortunately, in June 2019, the couple decided to part ways and announced their divorce. Neighbors of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo revealed that months before the separation, the couple had already moved out of the house.
Song Joong Ki is reportedly working on two new films, an action movie entitled Bogota and The Season of Us. Song Hye Kyo, in the meantime, revealed new images from her endorsement deal with Bottega Veneta and purchased a new home in Hawaii.
