The people of Britain received a wonderful comforting gesture as Queen Elizabeth addressed the nation on television to assure them that coronavirus will be beaten. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, reportedly, watched their grandmother's speech online and also found her presence quite comforting, a source revealed.
Speaking with Harper's Bazaar, the source said that Prince Harry and Meghan were so moved by Queen Elizabeth's rare public address to the nation last Sunday, April 5. The source also said the Sussexes think the Queen's speech showed not only her leadership but also her "warmth and reassurance."
In her message to the nation, Queen Elizabeth touched on the fact that they are all separated from their loved ones since coronavirus quarantine measures call for physical distancing. Some royal fans believe that this part of Her Majesty's speech was a personal reference to Prince Harry and Meghan.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently staying isolated in Los Angeles, where they are supposed to start their new chapter. The rest of the royal family are also holed up at different homes in the U.K. and they won't be able to celebrate family events like the Queen's 94th birthday and Prince Louis's second birthday this April.
Queen Elizabeth is staying isolated in Windsor Castle with Prince Philip and a handful of their royal aides. Prince Charles is staying put in Birkhall with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, after they've both self-isolated from coronavirus. Prince William is with Kate Middleton and their kids in Norfolk. The Yorks are staying at the Royal Lodge while the Wessex are in Gloucestershire.
The Queen also said that while isolating may be hard for families, it's also a good time to "slow down, to pause and reflect in prayer or meditation." Her Majesty noted that this pandemic crisis reminds her of a similar circumstance during the Second World War when loved-ones were also separated from each other. At the end of speech, the Queen reassured Britain that families will see other again.
Reports stated that Queen Elizabeth recorded her public address on April 2 at Windsor Castle. Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh are expected to stay in the castle even after Easter.
Prince Harry was apparently able to speak to his grandmother just last week to give his support for the public address. This month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to rethink their plans to launch a new foundation amid the coronavirus crisis.
