Kate Middleton receives praises for her ability to up her game in the royal family. A lot of people said she would be the perfect queen consort when the time comes for her husband, Prince William, to ascend the throne. But behind her sweet smile and kind attitude, one royal expert revealed how the Duchess of Cambridge might be like behind closed doors.
Emily Nash, royal correspondent for Hello! Magazine talked about Kate Middleton in the 2017 documentary Kate: The Making of a Modern Queen, revealing despite her warmth and interest in charities, she didn't look natural in public. She said it might be because she had to be careful not to do any mistakes that could ruin her reputation or that of the royal family, Daily Express noted.
"She's in a difficult situation because I think she's not always able to be completely spontaneous in front of the cameras," Nash explained. Kate Middleton is one of the most scrutinized members of the royal family. With the rise of the camera phones and social media, anything she does wrong can instantly go viral.
She always has to be conscious of herself, and that is a big challenge for her. However, whenever she interacts with people, everyone can see her natural warmth and genuine interest. She does a lot of research and reads everything she has to do with the charities she's visiting and people she's engaging with.
Nash added that Kate Middleton's perceived perfection makes it more difficult for royal fans to relate to her compared to other royals who have "more obvious flaws or character quirks." Anyhow, there are some moments when Prince William's wife gives a glimpse of what she is behind closed doors.
Fans can see her real personality when she is relaxing, which shows her informal side, like when she's playing and competing with her husband. It also happens when she's interacting with kids, making fun facial expressions, and pretty much enjoying herself.
With her "unflappable attitude," a royal insider also revealed to Vanity Fair that Queen Elizabeth II herself is a big fan of Kate Middleton. She is said to be taking cues from Her Majesty, as she is set to step into her role someday when Prince William gets crowned.
The 93-year-old monarch admires the way her granddaughter-in-law balances her life between her royal duties and responsibilities to her family. "Her mantra is very like the Queen's keep calm and carry on approach in life, and she has the added benefit of making the Royal Family seem almost normal and in touch," the source explained.
