Prince William and Kate Middleton continued their royal engagement, albeit working from home due to the coronavirus outbreak and lockdown in the United Kingdom. The royal couple held a video call with the kids of Casterton Primary Academy, in Burnley, and although they are both famous personalities themselves, the children asked who was the favorite celebrity they had ever met.
Pendle Trust Chief Executive Anita Ghidotti believed that the Cambridges weren't often asked about the favorite person they had ever met, so this question came as a surprise. However, knowing how the two are always willing to answer fans' questions, especially kids, they didn't hesitate to reveal their best-loved celebrity, and you, too, would be surprised.
As a member of the royal family and often engaged in different royal activities, it's already a common sight to see Prince William and Kate Middleton rubbing elbows with various A-list celebrities. But instead of choosing the most glamorous entertainer there is, the Duchess of Cambridge chose the legendary English broadcaster, Sir David Attenborough, instead.
"The Duchess said that George has been watching lots of David Attenborough, Blue Planet and the like, so that would probably be hers," Ghidotti explained, via Hello! Magazine. Prince William and Kate Middleton already teamed up with the famed natural historian in Birkenhead in September 2019.
At the time, they attended the naming ceremony of the polar research ship, RRS Sir David Attenborough. The public voted to call the vessel Boaty McBoatface, but it was later vetoed.
Kate Middleton first met Sir David Attenborough at the Natural History Museum Alive 3D premiere in 2013, where they had to wear 3D glasses to watch his documentary. Since then, the future queen consort had the privilege to meet him several times, like at the Dramatic Arts event at Buckingham Palace with Queen Elizabeth II in 2014 and the Wildlife Photographer of The Year 2014 Awards. The two also collaborated for the reopening of Hintze Hall at the Natural History Museum in July 2017.
Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate Middleton's recent royal engagement was for the children of the essential workers, like the healthcare staff and emergency services members, who were being cared for and taught at the Northern-England school amid the coronavirus outbreak. According to People, Kate commended the school's effort to help these kids during this time of crisis, which admittedly is a relief for all the parents who are key workers this pandemic, knowing their children are well taken care of.
"They've got the structure, and they've got a safe place for them to be, so really really well done to all of you," Kate Middleton said. Prince William, on the other hand, gave his heartfelt gratitude to these people and lend his support to all the staff and volunteers, who are all doing a great job.
