The mom of GOT7's Bambam has been one of the most well-loved parents of Kpop idols because of her cool disposition and connection with the fans. However, she recently received criticism for taking an April Fools joke seriously and even taking legal action over it.

According to a report by Kpopstarz, Mama B, as Bambam's mother is famously called by GOT7's fandom Aghases and her son's fans, recently received harsh criticism after filing a lawsuit against a netizen who impersonated her as a prank on April Fools' Day.

Mama B, reportedly, filed a Lése-Majesté or a legal charge against an individual who assumed her personality as an April Fool's Joke. In Thailand, it is customary for normal folk to assume the role of celebrities as part of the fun.

However, it seemed that Bambam's mom took issue not only with the impersonation but the harassment that she and her son has been experiencing from the same individual for some time before April Fools'. The impersonator also, reportedly, insulted Bambam's mom, leading her to investigate further and found a Lése-Majesté content from the user.

A Lése-Majesté is a criminal offense in Thailand borne from defaming the members of the royal family and the sovereign power.

Under Section 112 of the law, whoever defames, insult or threaten the King, the Queen, the Heir-apparent or the Regent, shall be punished with imprisonment of three to fifteen years.

Netizens criticized Mama B for filing such a heavy lawsuit against the person when a typical defamation lawsuit will do. However, it was learned that Bambam's mom tried to file a regular defamation suit against the user but it was rejected, prompting her to pursue the heavier case.

While some fans are worried about how this will affect Bambam's popularity in Thailand, some defended Bambam's mom for resorting to such measures. They also appealed to other fans not to drag down Bambam in his mother's controversy because he had nothing to do with it.

Meanwhile, GOT7 is gearing to make a comeback on April 20 with the album DYE, which takes inspiration from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

JYP Entertainment has released a teaser video for Not by the Moon, the title track of the new album. The label also teased the script for the teaser which features famous words from Shakespeare's great tragedy, Soompi reported.  This will be their follow up to the success of last year's Call My Name.
