Prince Harry and Meghan Markle briefly stayed in Canada after they announced that they will be stepping down as senior royals earlier this year. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex then headed to Los Angeles where they are currently living.

A Los Angeles estate agent then shared on Instagram that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had purchased Mel Gibson’s multi-million home. “Big news… Prince Harry & Meghan Markle buy Mel Gibson’s house in Malibu,” it read. However, the post was quickly deleted and nobody knew what happened to the deal.

Now, a new report shed some light on what really happened to the reported purchase. A source of The Sun shared that lengthy talks were made before a final decision was made.

“There were conversations between brokers for Mel and brokers for Meghan and Harry,” the insider said. “The talks were preliminary and they never got close to finalizing a deal. I’m not sure who ended the talks - Mel’s house has been on and off the market for some time.”

Daily Mail previously claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are searching for a place to hold an A list event for their son Archie’s first birthday. However, they have to rethink their plans due to the social distancing implemented by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

“Los Angelenos have been told that social distancing remains a priority and parties or gatherings of any sort are out of the question,” the source said. “There is no way that Harry and Meghan could or would even consider throwing a party for family and friends. As special as Archie turning one is, now is the time to take safety more seriously than ever. Their close-knit friend group will have plenty of other opportunities moving forward to come together. There are other events lined up throughout the rest of the year.”

Archie will turn one year old next month. While first birthdays are always important, it seems like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have to keep Archie’s first milestone very simple. Until the lockdown is lifted, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their son will have to stay at home.

“It's a shame because Archie's birthday, without the lockdown, offered the perfect opportunity to host a welcome to LA bash for them and their friends,” the insider continued. “Just last week April 19 was the date restrictions would set to be lifted, but that's not the case anymore for safety reasons.”
