The casting of Zoe Kravitz in the upcoming The Batman movie was revealed months ago. In fact, the movie has started filming already. However, Kravitz's casting is getting the hype now more than ever.

Fans have already anticipated a delay in The Batman release date because of coronavirus. The movie was originally scheduled to hit cinemas on June 25, 2021.

But instead of getting depressed about it, Catwoman fans have expressed on social media their excitement of seeing Zoe Kravitz in action as Selina Kyle, a.k.a Catwoman. Many fans took to Twitter to express their excitement to see Kravitz with a catsuit, claws, and a whip in the Robert Pattinson-starred superhero movie.

"Literally the only thing keeping me going in this quarantine is knowing that one day we will see Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman," one fan tweeted

The reception for Zoe's casting has been positive, even more so than the public's view about Pattinson replacing Ben Affleck as Batman. Some, however, shared that they do want No Time To Die actress Ana de Armas or Tomb Raider star Alicia Vikander playing the DC heroine.

Some also compared the Little Big Lies star's casting to the past actresses that played the same role. According to DC comics fans, Michelle Pfeiffer's performance in Michael Keaton's Batman Returns in 1992 sets the standard very high to all that follow.

Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway's interpretation of the iconic character have less favourable reviews than of Pfeiffer. Even Kravitz agreed that the Ant-Man and the Wasp actress performance as Catwoman was exceptional

"I think Catwoman is such an iconic character. I was never into a lot of comic books, but that was always really intriguing to me. And then, of course, Michelle Pfeiffer and her performance has always been super inspiring to me. It just felt iconic," she told Entertainment Tonight earlier this year.

Meanwhile, this is not the first try for Zoe to be Catwoman. She first voiced the character in the 2017 The LEGO Batman Movie.

Aside from Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz, The Batman also stars Paul Dano (Riddler), Colin Farrell (Penguin), Jeffrey Wright (James Gordon), and Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth). Ben Affleck was no longer connected in the project in any capacity. The actor was initially set to direct, write, produce, and star in The Batman. He stepped down from the entire production in early 2019.
