A lot of industries fall victim to the coronavirus outbreak, including the music world. Several artists are supposed to drop their new albums this year but decided to push back to a later date due to the pandemic. Sadly, Adele's new album may have the same fate after the 31-year-old star hinted its cancelation on an Instagram Live session with the Babyface-Teddy Riley duo.
After the "Hello" hitmaker confirmed that her new album is on its way, she said a heartbreaking update during the Instagram Live battle of Teddy Riley and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds. As some audio problems ended the session, Adele left a comment on the post, saying, "Come on, it's 2020 we ain't meant to get what we want."
She also added her comment with a series of "laughing so hard I cry" emojis, which might mean that she was "laughing through her tears," HollywoodLife noted. However, her fans were not laughing with her, assuming that her new album's release might be pushed back for a year.
Adele confirmed that she would be making a new album at a wedding party of her friend in February. At the time, NME reported that she went up on stage to announce the good news. She even revealed that her latest LP would be out in September until the coronavirus outbreak happened.
Her manager, Jonathan Dickins, even confirmed that Adele would have a new album out this year--a month before her announcement. Sadly, the pandemic has affected not just people's lives but their businesses, different industries, and economies as well.
Although Adele seemed to hint that people wouldn't get what they wanted this year, including her new album, her fans gave another meaning to her comment, hoping she would soon drop her new LP. More than the coronavirus outbreak, they seemed to be more worried that the coming of her fourth studio album would be delayed until 2021, Mirror Online noted.
One fan said that Adele is hunting them that they wouldn't get her new album this year. Another one is still hoping to hear her latest LP, which might be out after her divorce. However, as fans have been waiting for her new album for five years, one of them seems to be unhappy with her comment.
"Adele has been on IG replying on Lives while were here waiting for five thousand years," the follower said. The fan questioned Adele's intent when she left a comment about people not getting what they want in 2020 with six laughing emojis, which is not funny for the awaiting fans.
