Kate Middleton's and Meghan Markle's weddings are some of the most expensive weddings in royal history. But, aside from learning the exact cost of their special days, many have been eager to know which wedding was bigger and more expensive.

In 2011, the now-Duchess of Cambridge tied the knot with Prince William, who serves as the third person in line for the British throne. Seven years later, the now-Duchess of Sussex got married to Prince Harry, who is the brother to the Duke of Cambridge.

Since the former Suits actress' arrival in the British Royal Family, comparisons between her and the Duchess of Cambridge have been very apparent. This is why it not surprising why several royal fans and supporters have been also looking back into their respective wedding days.

According to Express UK, both of the Duchesses' weddings are deemed to be the weddings of the decade. Not only because they are royals, but they also entail hefty costs and prices.

It was estimated that Kate Middleton's wedding to Prince William has cost around $34 to $36 million. However, $32 million of the total cost reportedly allocated to the security of the event. It was not shocking considering that they are serving the British Monarchy as the future King and Queen Consort of the United Kingdom.

On the other hand, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding in 2018 has an estimated cost of almost $40 million. The publication revealed, however, that the security cost of the event only entailed $2.5 to $5 million.

This means that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a much bigger and more expensive wedding than the Cambridge couple. But, despite the huge difference in the overall cost, Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding cake has remained to be the most expensive wedding cake with a "staggering" price of $80,000 as per Page Six.

While Meghan Markle's wedding is much heftier than her sister-in-law's, CBS News revealed that this is not the most expensive royal wedding of all. As it happens, Prince Charles and Princess Diana's big event in 1981 has remained to be the most expensive and biggest royal wedding of all.

The overall cost of the wedding was said to be around $70 to $86 million. It was noted that this is already adjusted based on inflation. Nevertheless, it has remained to be unbeaten as Meghan Markle's wedding just came in second on the list, placing Kate Middleton's on the third spot.
