R&B fans are now celebrating as Diddy and Dr Dre may face each other on a rap battle on Verzuz. When the 50-year-old star joined Fat Joe on Instagram Live last week, he revealed he might go head-to-head with the 55-year-old record producer, and it's now in the works. Will it happen?
Diddy admitted that they have been talking about the possible rap battle, which is expected to be a fight between two rap gods like no other. He even teased the big possibility of it to happen, while talking to Fat Joe.
"We're definitely talking about it," the "I'll be Missing You" hitmaker said when Fat Joe asked if the rap battle would come to fruition, Hollywood Life noted. "You heard it here. You heard it here on the show," Joe said.
Just like thousands of their fans, Fat Joe couldn't hide his excitement. Diddy then compared the actor from Bronx, New York, to Oprah Winfrey due to the explosive announcement he just revealed. He even called him "Joe-prah," saying it was breaking news.
As expected, fans celebrated the good news. Just like Fat Joe, they were all excited about Diddy's announcement and filled the Twitter world with their thoughts about it.
One fan said that the east coast would meet the west coast if the battle ensues. This will literally happen as Diddy is from New York while Dr. Dre is from California.
As they are two of the greats in the rap genre, fans know that their face-to-face will be a good one. Rap music lovers are now taking their sides, as some already chose Dr. Dre as their bet. Of course, Diddy has his thousands of supporters, too.
Swizz Beatz earlier pitched the idea of Dr. Dre and Diddy's rap battle on Instagram last week. He told Timbaland that they were calling on these two to give back to people during the COVID-19 pandemic, Music Times noted.
He wanted the rap battle to be a UFC-style, pay-per-view event. Although it's called a rap battle, there will never be a fight, but instead, celebrate the R&B music. He also suggested that its proceeds would be donated to coronavirus relief efforts.
If this battle pushes through, Verzuz will once again make another history. Aside from their own hits, both Diddy and Dr. Dre produced big singles to other artists, like Eminem, 2Pac, Mary J Blige, Boyz II Men, Brian McKnight, and many more. The head-to-head of the two of the great rappers in the world will take place on Swizz Beatz and Timbaland's new Verzuz rap battle series on Instagram.
