There's a newly-released book about the royal family, titled Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir From Queen Mary To Meghan Markle. It aims to reveal the secrets confined to the four walls of Kensington Palace, including things about the late Princess Diana. But, in another unearthed biography, it showed what differs between Diana and her then-husband, Prince Charles, which possibly led to the accusation of lacking the discipline that the monarchy expected from her.
Princess Diana was believed to be the perfect match for Prince Charles, given that she, too, was from an aristocratic family, the Spencer family, and he's the heir to the throne. However, a few years after her marriage and officially joined the royal family; she started to break the royal protocols that also broke their expectations from her.
But, it did win her the nation's heart, dubbing her as the People's Princess. According to Express, the Princess of Wales' 1995 Panorama interview surprised not just everyone but the royal family particularly. Here, she bravely stood against Queen Elizabeth II's "never complain, never explain" mantra.
It was also said to be the reason behind the Queen's request for the couple to opt for divorce after being separated for three years. In Howard Hodgson's 2007 biography, Charles: The man who will be King, he revealed one thing that differed Prince Charles' childhood from Prince Diana, which might be the reason why she reveled against the royal protocols.
They were both sent to boarding schools, which they also both disliked, but they had a different approach for it. Unlike the Duke of Cornwall, who followed his parents' order, Prince William and Prince Harry's mother tried to defy her own parents by sending them letters, saying how unhappy she was. She also begged them to take her away from there immediately.
"The fact that they acquiesced after just one term is in stark contrast to the years of misery suffered by Charles at Gordonstoun," Hodgson explained. "Perhaps offers more than a little explanation as to why, in her later role, she often lacked the discipline that her husband and his family expected of her."
Meanwhile, in the royal family book by Tom Quinn, it revealed the secret dramas that happened at Kensington Palace, gathered from their former servants. One of the stories it disclosed was when Princess Diana "sunbathed naked on the roof," Daily Mail noted.
The palace staff was, reportedly, often seeing half-naked people around the place, including the mother-of-two. In the summers of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Princess Diana would usually sunbathe on the rooftop naked. However, there was an incident that when she stood up, she was seen by two builders without clothes.
