EXO-Ls have known since last year that group leader Suho will be enlisting for mandatory service this year and he has finally revealed when it will take place.

In his letter to their fandom EXO-L posted fan community space Lysn, he made a careful announcement about his impending enlistment which will start next week.

"On May 14, I will be enlisting in the military to carry out my duties. I think I will miss our EXO-L during that time. I hope our EXO-L, who think of me and love me every day, will always be healthy. I sincerely thank you, and I love you. We are one, EXO. Let's love," Suho said in his heartfelt letter.

It is expected that for this year, EXO members will focus on solo projects and individual promotions with the upcoming enlistment of four of its members. Xiumin and DO enlisted last year and will be discharged on December 2020 and January 2021, respectively.

Suho will be the first member to enlist this year followed by three other members who were born in 1991 and 1992. Baekhyun, Chen, and Chanyeol are also expected to fulfill their mandatory service soon.

Before enlisting, Suho revealed his solo debut Self Portrait which was met with a lot of success from fans and supporters. Through the album, Suho showcased a different side to his music and also penned some of the songs in his six-track album.

Suho's Self Portrait debuted on the Billboard World Albums Chart upon its release and also claimed the top position on iTunes Top Album Chart in 50 countries. His single Let's Love also maintained a strong position on local music charts like Melon, Genie, and Bugs.

According to music reviewers, Suho successfully gave fans an insightful look into his journey as an artist as part of EXO and as an individual singer.

"Suho's solo album comes at a time of transitions and new beginnings as the artist is almost in his 30s. Through the six tracks of his debut, going softly in and out, Suho takes listeners on a journey of who he is as he reflects on the years of his 20s. Self-Portrait is a welcome solo debut with a strong and meaningful concept that stands out with its rock-inspired sound in a pop-dominated scene," Seoulbeats said in its review.

It has become quite a tradition for EXO members to release solo music before enlistment since Xiumin and DO also released solo tracks as a farewell to their EXO-Ls before they reported for mandatory service.
