Prince Harry had decided to turn his back on Royal life to live a “peaceful life” and be “financially independent” with Meghan Markle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced back in January that they will be stepping down from their senior roles to focus more on their family and charities.
And on March 31, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were officially stripped off from their roles. The couple then briefly stayed in Canada before heading to Los Angeles where they are currently residing and starting a new life outside the Royal Family.
However, despite their withdrawal, Prince Harry is still in the line of succession. The Duke of Sussex is sixth in the line of succession to the British throne and it remains that way until today.
“Succession to the throne is based on legislation including the Succession to the Crown Act, which includes the Act of Settlement, so only an Act of Parliament could remove someone from the line of succession,” Express reported. “The last time someone was removed from the line of succession was when King Edward VIII abdicated to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson in 1936, sparking a constitutional crisis.”
Meanwhile, a previous report revealed that even though it seems like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got what they wanted, the Duke of Sussex’s good friend said that he is struggling to adapt to his new life in Los Angeles. Dr. Jane Goodall shared that she and the prince kept in touch after the couple stepped down as senior royals last month.
“I don’t know how his career is going to map out, but, yes, I’ve been in touch, though I think he’s finding life a bit challenging right now,” she said.
The 86-year-old primatologist then noted that Meghan Markle has a huge influence in Prince Harry. When it was pointed out that Prince William and his brother are champions of the natural world, she agreed and said: “except they hunt and shoot.”
Dr. Jane Goodall then added that the Duke of Sussex will no longer do it since his wife is not a fan of hunting. “But I think Harry will stop because Meghan doesn’t like hunting, so I suspect that is over for him,” she said.
Another report claims that Meghan Markle is living her dream after they moved to Los Angeles while Prince Harry is “star struck” over their new surroundings.
