Prince William and Prince Harry grew up in the same household, witnessing how the older Royals complete their duties. That being said, the royal brothers have learned the importance of helping others from a very young age.
But even though Prince William and Prince Harry witnessed the same situation, they adopted a very different approach when it comes to working with charities. Narrator Glynis Barber highlighted their differences in Channel 5's documentary Secrets of the Royals on Tour.
"Both brothers have remodeled the royal tour though for the King-in-waiting a more symbolic approach is still needed,” she said. "As the future King of England and leader of the Commonwealth, William has expanded the royal tour to showcase Britain’s relationship with its diplomatic allies… Like his mother, Princess Diana, Prince Harry’s tours have focused on humanitarian issues."
Royal correspondent Simon Vigar echoed Glynis Barber’s statement. He said that Prince William is required to include “duller” moments on his since he is the second in line to the British throne while Prince Harry focused more on what interests him.
"For William and Kate, it is a little bit more formal. There are definitely some of Diana’s charities that William is promoting when he goes on royal tours. But he is going to have to do more of the dull stuff on a royal tour, the diplomacy, the trade missions,” he said. "Harry has spent weeks and weeks in Africa, directly working on conservation projects. That feeds into what they want to do publicly. William and Harry, they want to do less in terms of spreading themselves thinly, they want to target what they are doing."
Meanwhile, Jeetendr Sehdev previously shared that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “going to show us all a different way in which royal family members can live.” The LA expert and author of “The Kim Kardashian Principle” then noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s brand had always been disruptive.
“The closest comparison to Meghan and Harry will be the Obamas and what they’re actually doing, I mean they’ve created an entertainment entity where they’re producing documentaries and I think that will be a similar route that Meghan and Harry can certainly take,” he said. “Letting people into who they are – because at the moment we don’t really know who Meghan and Harry are. We just know that they’re part of the royal family.”
