Piers Morgan is known for being too critical of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after they stepped down as senior royals. Now, the veteran journalist has a changed of heart and admitted that he took things "a bit too far" with his criticisms of the Sussexes.
Speaking on The Sunday Times, via Daily Mail, Piers Morgan acknowledged his mistake, saying "it's probably not wise" to take things personally, especially if he's a columnist. The 55-year old broadcaster accused Meghan Markle of so many things, from ditching her own family to taking away Prince Harry from the royal family.
The Good Morning Britain host admitted that he probably had taken things too far. So, he decided to "govern and temper" the way he talks about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from now on.
The television personality explained that as a journalist, he's at his best on stuff that matters, like the most important things that put people's lives in question. These things are what make his profession excite the most and it takes him too far when tackling about the couple.
"It's times of relative peace, calm, quiet, and dare I say boredom that might occasionally bring out the worst in me," Piers Morgan confessed. "Having squabbles with people who are never going to change their mind in a million years about stuff that no longer seems remotely important."
The writer started to criticize Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they dropped their bombshell announcement to leave the monarchy in January. According to News.com.au, he called the former actress "fake," a "ruthless social climber," and a user who's taking advantage of her marriage to a prince to "get to the top."
He also accused the sixth in line to the throne of being "hypocritical" and always "playing the victim. Piers Morgan and Meghan Markle used to be on good terms. They even followed each other on Twitter in 2015. She also gave him access to the preview episodes of Suits so that he could watch it before others.
They even met for a drink in his local pub in 2016. At the time, Piers Morgan revealed that Meghan Markle downed three Dirty Martinis, while he drank pints while they were debating about President Donald Trump.
He described Meghan Markle as a "lovely, normal girl," who was having a hard time to be on the dating scene. Later, when she met Prince Harry--around the same time that she's friends with Piers Morgan--Morgan started to be angry with her, saying she "ghosted" him.
