Despite the negative issues surrounding the late Princess Diana, the initial did everything she could for the royal family. She even made a lot of sacrifices when she joined the monarchy upon her marriage to Prince Charles, and it was all because of the enormous respect she had for Queen Elizabeth II.

People still admire Princess Diana until today. Aside from her charity works and love for nature, her respect for Queen Elizabeth also stood out when she was still the Princess of Wales. So, what great sacrifices did she does for Her Majesty herself?

According to Express, in the 1992 book Diana: Her True Story, author Andrew Morton revealed how important it was for the People's Princess to bring herself at the level that would honor her then-mother-in-law. The famed journalist shared that the major sacrifice that the princess did was never to let the Queen down.

It was even said to be one of the reasons why the mother-of-two didn't divorce Prince Charles immediately. "While Diana finds the monarchy as presently organized as a crumbling institution, she has a deep respect for the manner in which the queen has conducted herself for the last forty years," Morton wrote.

Although Princess Diana wanted to leave her husband at the time, she didn't do so. As she promised not to abandon Queen Elizabeth, she told her that she would never let her down. She remained loyal to the monarch, and it was even shown in one of the royal engagements they did together.

In one of their appearances, Princes Charles' former wife refused to use a fan amid a hot day, Cheat Sheet noted. A friend offered her a fan as they attended a garden party on a hot July afternoon, but she declined.

She said she couldn't fan herself while Queen Elizabeth remained to stand, holding her handbag and wearing gloves, stockings, and shoes. As she seemed to admire the Queen's self-control, she tried to follow her lead.

But despite the admiration, Princess Diana and the monarch were not always on the same page. In the documentary Diana: In Her Own Words, she revealed that she went to Queen Elizabeth crying when she was asking for help, believing her marriage to Princes Charles was "loveless."

Sadly, she didn't get the help she wanted, as the leader of the Commonwealth only said that she didn't know what her daughter-in-law should do. Anyhow, when Princess Diana died in 1997, Queen Elizabeth paid her a tribute in a most heart-melting way.
