9-1-1 season 3 finale aired on Monday night on Fox, leaving huge cliffhangers and unexpected stories to the lives of some of the characters. There is a big reveal in the closing minutes of the episode, with Maddie being pregnant with Chimney's baby.

9-1-1 season 3 finale saw Maddie and Chimney expecting a baby. The news came so suddenly, which is during the graduation party. Kids are growing up, while Maddie and Chimney are now preparing for the new part of their future.

Maddie's pregnancy could be further explored moving forward. But then, it remains to be seen whether such pregnancy would be featured when the new installment arrives. There could be a time jump, considering the current global health crisis.

The series will probably go on hiatus for a long while and return next year. Thus, when the show comes back, it may opt to feature Maddie ready to give birth -- skipping the pregnancy stage. Yet, the series may also proceed with the pregnancy phase and sees how Maddie and Chimney deal with it.

As for what else happened in 9-1-1 season 3 finale, the episode hinted that Aisha Hinds' character, Hen, might be leaving the series. She is heading to med school, something that is significant for her career and could change her future.

Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Tim Minear has something to say about this specific subject. He said this makes the writers nervous, pointing out Hen going to the med school. But then, it's also a good thing for the story. He also added that Hinds' involvement in the series will not be reduced.

Minear explained they had to tell a story that is satisfying, engaging, and rewarding. Thus, putting Hen in med school could bring new dynamics between different characters. Hinds is not departing from the series even though her character enters a new phase of her life.

All events happened in 9-1-1 season 3 finale set up new stories in the fourth installment. But viewers need to wait for its arrival as it may not be coming anytime soon. Fox previously released its fall schedule and the Angela Bassett-led series isn't on the list.

The delay may have something to do with the real-life health crisis around the world, as the cast and crew couldn't start filming because of the situation. And due to the potential filming delay, the release date might be pushed back a bit later.
