It was initially reported that Depp will no longer return in Pirates of the Caribbean 6 since the new movie is expected to be a reboot of the film franchise. However, a new report may have confirmed that Depp will be back as Captain Jack Sparrow in the highly anticipated sequel.
There is little doubt that people were concerned about Johnny Depp's future with the Disney franchise following his legal scandal with ex-wife Amber Heard. After all, there were speculations that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 will be a reboot of the films and that Depp will no longer appear in the movies as Captain Jack Sparrow will be replaced by a new female lead. Jerry Bruckheimer is one of the producers working on Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and he has revealed to Collider that the film is still in the early stages of development. "We're working on a draft right now and hopefully we'll get it shortly and give it to Disney and hopefully they'll like it," Bruckheimer said. "We don't know. We've been working on it for a little bit."
Interestingly, some fans believe that the screenplay is still in the works because the first draft had omitted Captain Jack Sparrow. In addition to that, Jerry Bruckheimer somehow suggested that Johnny Depp will still be a part of the movie in some way. "The one we're developing right now, we're not sure quite what Johnny's role is going to be," Bruckheimer said. "So, we're going to have to see."
