Avatar 2 might still be more than a year away but that hasn't stopped fans from craving new updates from the highly anticipated sequel. After all, it has been more than a decade since the premiere of the first movie and people are eager to find out what happened to the Omaticaya now that Jake Sully is their new leader. Luckily, the cast and crew are also excited to share some awesome behind-the-scenes look at their project. A new image taken from the set of the second film offers the first look at Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis working with Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington.

The photo was shared by the official Avatar Twitter account and it confirms that several scenes in the sequel will be filmed underwater. The picture shows Titanic actress Kate Winslet with Fear The Walking Dead star Cliff Curtis as well as lead actors Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington in a pool filled with tiny balls that are expected to help with motion capture.

In addition to that, all the Avatar 2 actors are all dressed in motion-capture suits and it appears that Saldana, Worthington, and Curtis all have cameras attached to their heads. Additionally, the caption confirms that "much of the performance capture took place in this 900,000 gallon tank, built specifically for the sequels."

Unfortunately, the image does not reveal what Kate Winslet will look like in Avatar 2 just yet considering that most of her character's appearance may be CGI. The same thing can be said about Cliff Curtis. Nevertheless, people are convinced that Winslet could portray a member of a different Na'vi tribe living on Pandora.

So far, the only details that are known about Kate Winslet's character in Avatar 2 is that her name is Ronal and she is a free-diver of the Metkayina. Interestingly, she is expected to be an important character in the sequel's storyline although she will only have a small part in the film. With that in mind, there is a possibility that her role will be connected to Jake Sully's children with Neytiri, who are set to be the true focus on the movies.

Avatar 2 will also bring back Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine, who may appear in flashback sequences. In addition to that, the Alien actress might play a second character who is connected to the tribes of Pandora. The film is scheduled for release on December 17, 2021.
