Fans will need to wait a few more months before the premiere of The Mandalorian Season 2 but there are some exciting new updates about the Star Wars series. The latest news reveals that prequel trilogy actor Temuera Morrison has been confirmed to join the cast in the Disney+ show's second season. Interestingly, the Aquaman star is reportedly playing an important character who has appeared both in the prequel and original trilogy movies. In addition to that, Morrison might also portray a completely different character who had previously had a major role in the animated shows.

Temuera Morrison is a name that is undoubtedly familiar to Star Wars fans. After all, he played Jango Fett, the mercenary who became the genetic template for the Clone Army that would eventually work for the Galactic Empire. Although Morrison only appeared in Attack of the Clones, his appearance has been depicted in other Star Wars projects since the clones are supposed to look exactly like Jango. With that in mind, his return in The Mandalorian Season 2 confirms that at least one or two of these clones had survived after the Clone Wars.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Temuera Morrison will play Boba Fett in The Mandalorian Season 2. This makes sense since Boba is actually an unmodified clone of Jango Fett, as revealed in Attack of the Clones. Interestingly, Morrison's role in the series is also set to confirm that Boba survived the events in Return of the Jedi where Han Solo accidentally threw him into the Great Pit of Carkoon where a Sarlacc was initially thought to have devoured him. In addition to that, Morrison could also portray yet another Jango Clone in the Star Wars show.

There have been reports that although Temuera Morrison's appearance as Boba Fett will only be a small cameo, he is also expected to portray another character in The Mandalorian Season 2. An insider has suggested that Morrison will also play the live-action version of Captain Rex, the Clone Trooper who was one of the main characters in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Additionally, Rex's possible appearance could make sense considering that there have been speculations that Rosario Dawson will play Ahsoka Tano in the show.

For now, it has not yet been confirmed whether Temuera Morrison will play two different characters in The Mandalorian Season 2. Likewise, there has been no confirmation that Rosario Dawson will portray Ahsoka Tano in the series. Hopefully, everything will be revealed once the Star Wars show returns on Disney+ this October.
