There is little doubt that people are already excited about The Mandalorian Season 2 after it was revealed that Rosario Dawson will be joining the cast of the Star Wars series. After all, the Daredevil actress has been actively campaigning to play a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano for several years. But has Dawson actually been called in to play the former Jedi or will she portray a completely different character in the Disney+ show? Dawson has finally addressed her casting in the highly anticipated second season.

Back in March, Star Wars fans were delighted when several reports revealed that Rosario Dawson will play Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian Season 2. However, later reports stated that Dawson's role has not yet been confirmed and that she will appear as a guest star in the second season. Nevertheless, people are still hoping that Disney and Lucasfilm will eventually announce that the Defenders star will portray Anakin Skywalker's former padawan in the series. For now, it looks like Dawson is choosing to tease on the possibility that she will play Ahsoka in the show.

Rosario Dawson recently spoke to Variety where she was asked if she will portray Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian Season 2. Interestingly, the Zombieland: Double Tap actress chose to play coy about the casting, pointing out that there hasn't been an official announcement about her role. "That's not confirmed yet but when that happens, I will be very happy. I'm very excited for that to be confirmed at some point," Dawson said before adding that it would be "a million and one percent because of the fans."

Although Rosario Dawson's role in The Mandalorian Season 2 has yet to be confirmed, fans believe that there have been several clues pointing to Ahsoka Tano possibly showing up in the Star Wars series. For instance, people have theorized that the previous season finale had a major hint that the former padawan will be brought into the Season 2 story arc. After all, there are only a few characters connected to the Darksaber that was revealed to be in Moff Gideon's possession. One of these characters just happens to be Ahsoka.

In the series finale of Star Wars Rebels, it was revealed that Ahsoka Tano is alive and well and reunites with Sabine Wren as they both set out to find Ezra Bridger. Interestingly, Sabine had previously wielded the Darksaber before handing it over to Bo-Katan Kryze who then became the true ruler of Mandalore. With that in mind, fans believe that Moff Gideon may have taken the weapon from Bo-Katan and that Sabine and Ahsoka will be going after him to take it back. However, this is still based on speculations so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

The Mandalorian Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. However, the show is expected to return on Disney+ later this year.
