It's no secret that Darth Maul will return in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7. After all, the final season is set to conclude with the Siege of Mandalore and we can't have that battle without Maul himself. However, it looks like there will be something different about the Maul that will appear in the animated series in the last few episodes. Voice actor Sam Witwer has just confirmed that original Darth Maul actor Ray Park will be back to play the character yet again this year.

Ray Park was the original actor who portrayed Darth Maul in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Although Park only appeared in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, there is little doubt that his portrayal of the Sith Lord was very memorable to fans. Some have even pointed out that Maul's fight sequence where he went up against Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn is one of the best lightsaber duels in the franchise's history. Interestingly, there is a good chance people will get to see that same action all over again in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7.

Sam Witwer, who provides the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as well as Star Wars Rebels, recently took to Twitter to share some interesting details. Witwer revealed that he was rewatching The Phantom Menace and he pointed out that although the animated version of Maul was good, the character was still missing something. The voice actor then stated that the animated Maul was missing Ray Park's fighting skill. Amazingly, Witwer went on to reveal that Park will be back in the final season of the show.

In the comments, Sam Witwer clarified that Ray Park was brought back to do some motion capture fighting for Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7. He also confirmed that he was able to watch the GI Joe actor in action and "it was an awesome thing to watch." Needless to say, it looks like the original Maul will be back to defend his claim on the throne of Mandalore. In addition to that, he will be going up against one of the best fighters in the Star Wars Universe.

The first teaser for the final season already confirmed that Ahsoka Tano will go up against Darth Maul in what is set to be the Siege of Mandalore. The battle is one of the last ones in the Clone War where the Republic helped in reclaiming the throne of Mandalore from Maul, who had previously taken it in the earlier seasons.

A new episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 airs on Disney+ every Friday.
