Things are getting very exciting on Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7. After an explosive premiere that introduced the Bad Batch, the final season of the animated series is promising an equally impressive conclusion as well. But what happens now that the story arc of Clone Force 99 is over? It looks like the show is going to focus on Anakin Skywalker and how he is slowly embracing the Dark Side.
It's no secret that Anakin Skywalker eventually ends up in the Dark Side. After all, this has already been shown in the Star Wars prequel film Revenge of the Sith. In the movie, Anakin is finally convinced by Emperor Palpatine to become his apprentice and was given the name Darth Vader. But what exactly happened before the events in Episode III?
Interestingly, that's a question that Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 is ready to answer. The series, which has spanned over seven seasons, has focused on the Clone Wars that took place right after Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. It's a long and difficult war that is already taking a toll on everyone involved, which includes the Jedi Council and the Separatists themselves. But did the most recent episode of the final season just tease at how Anakin Skywalker is now embracing the Dark Side?
In Unfinished Business, Anakin Skywalker and Captain Rex joined the newly recovered Echo on a risky mission that should help the Republic score a major win over the Separatists. Echo proposed that he would feed the Separatists' computers with bad strategies that could buy some time for Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi and their troops. However, it could be a dangerous move for Echo who could be killed if caught.
Although they succeed, Echo later discovers that Admiral Trench has one last plan that could kill everyone. The villain is planning to activate a bomb that is hidden somewhere in Fort Anaxes. This is when Anakin Skywalker comes in and confronts Trench. In a gut-wrenching move, Anakin manages to obtain the codes that would deactivate the bomb. However, he also executes Trench in cold blood, which is something that the Jedi does not do.
So does this mean that Anakin Skywalker is now turning his back on the Jedi? Will he end up embracing the Dark Side by the end of the series? The truth could be revealed in the next episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7, which airs on Disney+ on Friday.
