There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to the new Disney+ series that will focus on Obi-Wan Kenobi. After all, Star Wars fans have been hoping to see more of the beloved Jedi Master for some time now. Interestingly, it looks like Disney and Lucasfilm are determined to bring in the best writers to work on the new show. A new report reveals that the studios have tapped The Mandalorian writers Dave Filoni and Christopher Yost to work on the series.

According to Variety, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has decided to remove original series writer Hossein Amini from the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The reason behind Amini's exit was not revealed but fans believe that Kennedy thought the writer's work was not satisfactory. With that in mind, both Lucasfilm and Disney may already been planning to use writers that already have experience with Star Wars. Although Amini's replacement has not yet been announced, there are speculations that Kennedy is already eyeing Dave Filoni and Christopher Yost to take over.

Dave Filoni is already a name that is familiar to Star Wars fans. In addition to writing one of the episodes of The Mandalorian, Filoni had directed the premiere episode of the Disney+ show. Moreover, Filoni has been in charge of the animated shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars as well as Star Wars Rebels. Needless to say, Filoni is a man who knows the franchise inside out and could easily come up with great ways to push Obi-Wan Kenobi's story forward.

Likewise, Christopher Yost is someone that Star Wars fans already knows. The comic book writer co-wrote the sixth episode of The Mandalorian with director Rick Famuyiwa. Needless to say, people are already looking forward to Yost writing more episodes for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

The idea of Dave Filoni and Christopher Yost writing episodes for the new show is certainly a welcome one. However, it is important to point out that the news has not yet been confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm. With that in mind, it is best to take this with a grain of salt.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series will bring back Ewan McGregor as the Jedi Master. The show will be directed by The Mandalorian's Deborah Chow and is expected to have six episodes. Although the series has not yet been given an official release date, Star Wars fans are hoping that it will premiere on Disney+ by next year.
