There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to the second season of The Mandalorian. After all, the first season concluded on a hopeful note as well as an awesome tease at bigger problems to face. Although Disney and Lucasfilm have not yet revealed when Season 2 will premiere, the studio has an amazing treat for fans who couldn't get enough of the Star Wars show. A new trailer has confirmed that The Mandalorian is getting its own documentary series that will air on Star Wars Day.

The official Star Wars YouTube channel has released the trailer for Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, the new documentary series that will give fans a better look at the making for the show's first season. Consisting of eight episodes, each episode is expected to offer an in-depth look at every chapter of Season 1.

In addition to that, there is a special segment that will bring back all the directors who worked on the show's first season to discuss the creative process on how they brought each episode to life. The director will be joined by creator Jon Favreau as well as actor Carl Weathers, who has been confirmed to direct an episode in The Mandalorian Season 2.

The trailer reveals some new footage from the first season of the Star Wars series like showing cast member Gina Carano having fun in between shooting. Director Deborah Chow also shares an interesting story about her experience with actor Werner Herzog, who was clearly convinced that the Baby Yoda puppet was an actual co-star.

Chow revealed that Herzog had began acting and directing The Child and she in turn had to direct the actor as he directed Baby Yoda. According to Chow, the man who played The Client stated that "we needed to commit to the magic, make them use the puppet."

There are several interesting revelations in the trailer for Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian. For instance, creator Jon Favreau stated that the droid IG-11 was basically the same as IG-88, the assassin droid that appeared in The Empire Strikes Back. Director Dave Filoni then confirmed a surprising detail about the robot that would please any fan of the original Star Wars trilogy. "They built him out of parts of the old Cantina set from A New Hope," Filoni shared.

Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian will air on Disney+ on Star Wars Day May 4, 2020.
