There is little doubt that people are already looking forward to the upcoming adaptation of Dune after the first images from the highly anticipated film were released. Not surprisingly, even the star of the original movie is already hyped up for the new movie starring Timothee Chalamet. Kyle MacLachlan had previously played Paul Atreides in the 1984 flick directed by David Lynch. Interestingly, the Twin Peaks actor admitted that he is already excited about the new adaptation by Denis Villeneuve.

Kyle MacLachlan might now be one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood but there was a time when he was just a hopeful young actor in the 1980s. Interestingly, his first major role was in David Lynch's adaptation of Dune where he played the young Paul Atreides. Although the role has now been taken over by Timothee Chalamet in Denis Villeneuve's remake, MacLachlan stated that he has nothing against the new movie. In fact, the Blue Velvet star is already looking forward to the upcoming adaptation.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Kyle MacLachlan enthusiastically admitted that he was already hyped up for the new Dune film. "I am looking forward to seeing it. I think Denis is such a wonderful filmmaker, he's put together a really cool cast," he said. MacLachlan then revealed that he had grown up reading Frank Herbert's works and had always been a huge fan of the books.

"I loved the books when I first read them back in, I think I was 15, so like 1972-73," MacLachlan said. "I remain a fan, particularly of the first book, it's one of my favorite books if not favorite book ever, I would read it every year."

Although Kyle MacLachlan is clearly excited about the new Dune adaptation, David Lynch isn't as enthusiastic as his star. The director of the 1984 Dune film had previously stated that he wasn't interested in the new movie at all. Nevertheless, MacLachlan was quick to point out that he and Lynch had different opinions.

"I come at it from a different perspective than David, of course, and I think the book is so rich and the relationships are so interesting. There are so many ways to interpret it. I'm looking forward to seeing what [Villeneuve] does," he said.

Dune will also star Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem. The film is scheduled for release on December 18.
