Apple will release the iPhone 12 later in the year, and when it happens, the new series will come in four flavors and all boasting of a bumped up OLED display technology. It might be that the starting price for the iPhone 11 sequel will be at $649, but for the two most premium models, the cost will be significantly higher.

The selling price of the iPhone 12 Pro will start at $999 while the iPhone 12 Pro Max will retail at $1,099, and these are for the base models packed with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Both versions are said to impress with a 120Hz screen fresh rate, which makes for a buttery smooth smartphone display experience.

According to MacRumors, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will be Apple's premium offerings for 2020, meaning these devices will be the favorite of users looking for the best mobile device experience in the iOS ecosystem. The former will be laced with a 6.1-inch display while the latter will come with a 6.7-inch screen - all in Full HD resolution that promises optimal media consumption experience.

The upcoming iPhone series will make use of flexible OLED panels across the board that is paired with Y-OCTA technology, which allows the direct installation of touch sensor on the display, thus making for a more responsive screen navigation.

Citing the information shared by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) CEO Ross Young, the report said all the planned iPhone models will be fully compatible with extreme dynamic range (XDR).

"XDR performance on its monitors is specified by Apple as 1000 nits of full screen brightness, 1600 nits of peak brightness, 1M:1 contrast, 10-bits of color and ~100% P3 wide color gamut," Young was reported as saying.

As mentioned, the new batch of flagship Apple handsets will debut below the $700 mark, which is for the 5.4-inch iPhone 12. The next step-up on the series is the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max that will cost $749 to take home. These two versions will shoot in dual-camera setup on the rear with a 64MP main sensor.

The two premium iPhone 12 models will be equipped with a more powerful triple-camera module but the series will record selfies in a 12MP sensor.

It is expected likewise that the new A14 Bionic chip will power the iPhone 12 into life, in tandem of course with iOS 14 that Apple should be introducing real soon. And thought to be as a common functionality for all the devices is 5G network compatibility.

Young has indicated that mass production of the iPhone 12 will start in late July, which WCCFTech said aligns with the projected intro of the series in September, en route to a commercial debut in October or November 2020.
