Danny's story is not frequently featured, unlike his siblings Jamie and Erin. The former is contemplating the idea of starting a family with Eddie, while the latter has a possible run for District Attorney in the future. So, Blue Bloods season 11 may now want to bring more Danny story.
One of the potential stories for Danny is taking Joe Hill under his week. The latter has a secret son and it seems like he'll have a sporadic appearance in Blue Bloods season 11. Since Danny and Joe are both detectives, they have a bit in common.
