On Monday morning, the British people woke up to a special broadcast with the voices of Kate Middleton and Prince William on the radio. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took over because they had a message for anyone listening as the country commemorated Mental Health Awareness week.

Kate and Prince William told listeners that they are not alone if they are feeling sad and depressed since everyone is connected. They said that it will make a big difference to anyone if they simply open up and talk about their feelings.

Prince William also encouraged listeners to reach out to someone who think is struggling with something emotional. Kate said that it's alright to ask someone how they are doing, especially if they notice something odd, and use this moment to send a good message to a friend and family who might need it.

The one-minute broadcast is one of several other broadcasts featuring top British personalities who took over the radio. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a photo of some of those who participated for the special awareness drive on their Kensington Royal Instagram.

Some 20 million people are expected to hear the broadcast that will run through the week at 11 a.m. local time. It comes as people are also struggling mentally because of the long isolation due to the coronavirus crisis.

The campaign is also part of Prince William and Kate's Heads Together mental health advocacy. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge established Heads Together with Prince Harry before he married Meghan Markle.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, however, have set up their own mental health advocacy via their new foundation Archewell. This foundation will not officially launch until later in the year as Prince Harry and Meghan said that it's more important to focus on giving help to people who may need it in this pandemic.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Kate's new campaign comes a year after they celebrated the launching of Shout, their mental health text messaging service. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge initiated a video call to the trailblazers of the charity to congratulate them for their big anniversary.

In the said video call, Prince William and Kate thanked the Shout volunteers for their work and for keeping the text-based mental health hotline active. The Cambridges also told the volunteers that they are proud of their hard work.
