Prince William and Kate Middleton are still busy overseeing their patronages despite the country's lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. For their latest stint, the Duke of Cambridge had a call with Bill Gates and they probably talked about the coronavirus outbreak.

The Court Circular revealed Prince William had a talk with Bill Gates. Although it did not explain their topic, it is strongly believed that it had something to do with the pandemic.

According to Hello! Magazine, in an announcement, the official record of royal engagements revealed that the Duke of Cambridge, the Joint Patron, and the Royal Foundation of the Cambridges held a meeting with the Microsoft Corporation co-founder through a telephone call. Their conversation might have touched the ongoing global health crisis, knowing that the 64-year-old business magnate is leading the funding efforts in finding a vaccine for the disease.

Recently, the software genius revealed that Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the wealthiest charity in the world, would give its full attention to the COVID-19 pandemic. The foundation already granted $250 million as a response to the outbreak. They even donated $10 million for an Australia trial of a vaccine that might help prevent severe cases of coronavirus in at-risk groups, like the healthcare workers and the elderly.

Meanwhile, it is not the first time that Prince William met Bill Gates. To recall, the future king welcomed the famed philanthropist, along with Kate Middleton, at Kensington Palace for a meeting about their respective charities. The royal couple presented Royal Foundation, while Bill and his wife, Melinda Gates, graced the event as co-chairmen and trustees of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Aside from being the wealthiest, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is also believed to be the largest private foundation in the world. The investor gave about £30bn to the charity. Just like their recent meeting, this was also never announced before it occurred but also noted on the Court Circular.

This meeting comes after Prime Minister Boris Johnson also had a call with Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda Gates. According to Express, Downing Street confirmed that the U.K. Prime Minister talked to the Gates through a video link on May 19 to discuss the country's contribution to help other nations around the world to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. They also discussed their efforts to find a vaccine that would stop the coronavirus from grappling every country around the world.
