Prince Charles' desire to have a slimmed-down monarchy is happening on its own. With the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and resignation of Prince Andrew, the senior members of the royal family are getting thinner.
Lady Glenconner, a former lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret, spoke about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's so-called Megixt and Prince Andrew's decision to step back from royal duties after the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal. As Prince Charles has been known for wanting to have a slimmer monarchy when the time comes that he will be sitting on the throne, the Baroness Glenconner revealed it is delivering in spades.
In an interview with Tatler, the 87-year-old British peeress revealed that Queen Elizabeth II is so fond and devoted to Prince Andrew. However, she later sighed and laughed and added that his brother, the Prince of Wales, "has always wanted" to make the royal family smaller.
So, as the Sussexes have now moved to Los Angeles and the Duke of York is rarely seen in public, it cannot be denied that the monarchy is only left with a few people. Lady Glenconner even gave her opinon about each of them, from Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to Kate Middleton.
Talking about Prince Charles' wife, she said that the future queen consort is "wonderful and has a lovely sense of humor." With her wit, she can effortlessly make her husband so happy.
She also has something to say about Princess Anne. Although the Princess Royal seems to be "semi-pulling a face," she is equally amazing. Anyhow, she is still quite afraid of her.
In addition, Lady Glenconner has nothing but good praise for Prince William and Kate Middleton. She described them as both wonderful, and the Duchess of Cambridge is "the star of the moment."
Lady Glenconner was Princess Margaret's lady-in-waiting from 1971 to 2002. She was also one of Queen Elizabeth's maid of honor at her coronation at Westminster Abbey in 1953, Express noted.
In the ITV documentary, The Queen: Inside the Crown, she revealed that the maids of honors, at the time, were given a bottle of smelling salts if they felt faint. She admitted that she started to sway, could not see anything but black, and the experience was awful.
However, Lady Glenconner kept in mind that she could never let Queen Elizabeth down. She even knew that she could also ruin the whole thing then, as millions of people over the world were watching.
