After rumors of Park Bo Gum's enlistment became a trending topic among fans this year, his agency, Blossom Entertainment has finally confirmed that the actor will be reporting for mandatory enlistment after completing his filming schedules for his upcoming projects.
According to a report from Soompi, Blossom Entertainment confirmed that Park Bo Gum has applied to join the Navy's military band. Blossom Entertainment said that Park Bo Gum wanted to do things quietly and submitted the application himself, with only a handful of people from the agency knowing about his plans. They promised to keep fans posted on whether the plans will push through. They also appealed for understanding on why they are constrained to release details as of now.
It can be recalled that Park Bo Gum became the subject of curiosity after he appeared in a cameo for the cameo of the Park Seo Joon's drama Itaewon Class. Fans raved over the visuals he presented with his clean-cut looks but worried that it meant he was already preparing for enlistment. There were also reports that hinted that the actor was enlisting this summer.
Park Bo Gum, who was born on June 16, 1993, and will turn 27 years old this month (28 years in Korean age). Celebrities typically enlist when they are 27-29 years old given the new guidelines of the Military Manpower Administration.
If the Navy accepts Park Bo Gum's application, this means that he could be enlisting as early as August 31.Before his enlistment, however, Park Bo Gum will be involved in two major projects.
The first is a big movie entitled Wonderland along with Goblin star Gong Yoo, Parasite star Choi Woo Sik, Jung Yoo Mi, and Suzy Bae.The sci-fi film reportedly revolves around an artificial reality experience called Wonderland which is tapped by a woman whose boyfriend is trapped in a coma and a man who is mourning after the loss of his wife.
Park Bo Gum is also expected to complete the filming for the tVn drama Record of Youth, where he will star alongside Parasite actress Park So Dam and Byun Woo Seok, Soompi reported.
In the drama, Park Bo Gum will play the role of Sa Hye Joon, a man who dreams of becoming an actor and model but faces difficulty in achieving his dreams.
Park So Dam will play the role of Ahn Jung Ha, a headstrong make up artist whose goal is to abandon her insecurities and become successful.
Byun Woo Seok will play Hye Joon's best friend Won Hae Hyo, an actor and model born from a rich family. His goal is to be acknowledged because of his own abilities and not because of his background.
