In a report via TVLine, Shore said they wanted Shaun and Lea to be together. However, there's also a question as to whether or not their relationship will last, hinting that the two might break up at some point. Although they've gone through a lot, there are still complications.
Shore explained he didn't want the story to look like Shaun has done something to Lea that proves she owes him. They might be in a situation wherein it showed Lea who exactly Shaun is. Perhaps, a very extreme circumstance may happen which could lead to all of this.
Lea has seen Shaun, has dealt with him, and they've been friends for a long time. But for Shore, he wanted to see that Lea was wrong. Hence, The Good Doctor season 4 may bring some conflicts between Shaun and Lea and could test their relationship.
