The controversy about Tatler's cover story about Kate Middleton continues. As the Cambridges, reportedly, decided to take legal action against the publication, the Duchess of Cambridge cannot help but still be "hurt and upset" about the article.

What upset Prince William's wife the most seems to be that Tatler's editor-in-chief, Richard Dennen, is a "close friend" from St Andrews. Allegedly, Kate Middleton did not see it coming from someone who she used to spend holidays with.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge filed legal action against the fashion bible after it published a cover story about the future queen consort. They said that the article was filled with a "string of lies," including the claims that she felt "exhausted and trapped" in the royal family. It also claimed that she and Meghan Markle fell out because of a royal protocol whether to wear tights or not on the latter's royal wedding, Daily Mail noted.

The piece's author, Anna Pasternak, said the mother-of-three had "an aura of blandness" and had developed a "posher accent" after being born a commoner. It was quite unusual for the royal couple to address this kind of issue. Still, they sent legal letters to the magazine, demanding the removal of its headline, Catherine the Great, from the internet.

According to The Sun, Kate Middleton was shocked with what she, allegedly, called "unpleasant" article from Tatler, especially that Richard Dennen is an old friend. The editor-in-chief used to be in the same art history course that she had and also lived two streets away.

They even spent a vacation in France in 2004, at the time when Kate Middleton and Prince William were on a break from their relationship. Richard Dennen also shared a now-deleted candid photo of Kate while eating a sandwich at an airport in 2015.

It was also believed that he attended their royal wedding in 2011. In an interview with CNN in 2011, Richard Dennen described Kate Middleton as very amused and controlled.

With the bond they used to have, a source revealed that she felt "betrayed" and never "saw it coming." She also seemed to be puzzled about the information that Tatler got, thinking that her real friends would never say things like that about her.

However, suspicions arose after The Sun revealed that Meghan Markle had a connection with people inside Tatler. The sister-in-law, Vanessa Mulroney, of her best friend, Jessica Mulroney, used to work for the magazine. Allegedly, she still has friends working for the publication.

Also, just days after being announced as Tatler's editor, Richard Dennen, allegedly, said that he is "obsessed with Meghan Markle." As his predecessor, Tina Brown, had Princess Diana, he added that he had Prince Harry's wife.
