But although there's a potential delay, a lot of stories are worth-exploring in NCIS season 18. For instance, the latest installment may address the Gibbs and Tobias Fornell's storyline. In season 16 finale, the episode saw Gibbs helping his longtime friend.
The daughter of Fornell has gotten herself into the world of opioids, and because of this, they found out that a chain possibly leads to some dangerous people. This storyline, however, wasn't explored in season 17. It was referenced shortly but wasn't entirely addressed due to Ziva Davis' return.
The door is still open for this storyline, so this is an opportunity for NCIS season 18 to further dive into different scenarios. In addition, Sloane and Gibb's relationship is one of the most interesting parts of the series and is worth exploring as well. Their bond is becoming deeper and their chemistry increases. In season 16, the two know some things about one another that nobody else knows.
In NCIS season 18, Sloane and Gibbs may take their relationship to the next level. Gibbs, in particular, may have finally decided to let someone in and Sloane could be the one. After all, there have been hints that she has some feelings for him.
