ARMYs got a shock of their lives when Jin’s info along with his picture was missing when searching for BTS band members on Google. Fans were understandably upset after the search engine appeared to suggest that Mr. Worldwide Handsome is no longer a part of the Big Hit Entertainment group.
It all started when an ARMY noticed that Jin was nowhere to be found in Google search results. The fan took to Twitter to show their discovery, prompting other ARMYs to demand Google to fix the issue.
After reading the tweet, one ARMY tried to search the keywords, "how many BTS band members,” and Google said “at least 6.” As expected, a lot of fans freaked out over this new information, and some even believe that this is a sign that Jin will be leaving for his military enlistment soon.
“Guys, you know how Google is saying that BTS has 6 members and Jin is not appearing. I’ve been thinking what if it’s a sign that Jin is going to the military soon,” one wrote.
Other fans are speculating that antis may have something to do with this. BTS recently received criticisms over Suga’s song “What Do You Think?” where a speech of cult-leader and mass murderer Jim Jones was included. Also, Jungkook was involved in a controversy when he visited an Itaewon area with other K-pop idols amid COVID-19. If this is the case, then Jin may have suffered the blow from haters by removing him on Google searches.
ARMYs immediately reported the matter and Google eventually put Jin’s profile back. However, the information is still not accurate as BTS doesn’t have 6 members like previously complained, but it now has 8 members when searched on Google: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook, and Kim Seokjin.
When searching for "how many BTS band members,” the result is “at least 8.” The error is still not fixed as of this writing.
“Google already fixed Seokjin’s page, but 8 members?! Who is the 8th member then?” one tweeted. “Hey Google, we appreciate that you listened to our concern and tried to fix it by adding BTS Jin’s picture, but just so you know, it is still not fixed. BTS has 7 members only. Kim Seokjin and Jin is the same person. You can use Yahoo or Bing to confirm it. Thank you,” another one shared.
