A photograph reportedly showing White House aide Natalie Harp carrying an oversized black bag off Air Force One has prompted online jokes about President Donald Trump wearing diapers, although neither the image nor the accompanying reporting establishes what the bag contained.
The Mirror linked the photograph to Trump's trip through Memphis, Tennessee, for a Monday campaign appearance in Corinth, Mississippi. The president was supporting Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
Harp, a special assistant and executive assistant to the president, was pictured descending the aircraft's steps in a plum-coloured coat while carrying what the newspaper described as a black overnight bag.
"That's a ludicrously capacious bag," one social media user wrote, according to The Mirror. Another commented: "Diapers... it's a diaper bag."
Those remarks were speculation about an unidentified item, not evidence about the president's medical needs. Neither the White House nor Trump's medical team has confirmed that he uses adult diapers or other incontinence products.
The photograph's original timestamp and the first social media post sharing it have not been independently verified. The reporting also included no explanation from Harp about the bag's contents.
The episode follows an earlier instance in which an altered photograph helped spread similar claims. In July, an image circulated that appeared to show Harp carrying a handbag containing white objects that some users described as adult diapers.
Snopes traced the original photograph to April 16, 2024, outside Manhattan Criminal Court. It showed Harp beside fellow Trump aide Margo Martin, who was actually carrying the handbag. Its contents were unidentified.
The manipulated version placed the bag in Harp's hand and added a uniformed man carrying a briefcase. That finding concerns the earlier image; it does not establish whether the newer Air Force One photograph was altered. An authentic photograph would not, on its own, identify what was inside the luggage.
Harp's role provides a documented reason for her presence during presidential travel. The White House's July 2026 personnel report lists her as "Special Assistant to the President and Executive Assistant to the President," rather than as a medical caregiver.
Trump's Mississippi appearance was part of a final campaign push across several states, according to The Associated Press. He told supporters he wanted to ensure Hyde-Smith's victory over Democrat Scott Colom in a contest drawing attention in the traditionally Republican state.
Separate disclosures about Trump's health have also featured in online discussion, but none substantiates the claims attached to Harp's bag.
In July 2025, the White House said examinations had identified chronic venous insufficiency after swelling appeared in Trump's legs. Officials attributed bruising on his hands to frequent handshaking and aspirin use.
Presidential physician Dr. Sean Barbabella addressed another visible symptom in March 2026, describing redness on Trump's neck as a reaction to a prescribed "preventative skin treatment." He did not identify the condition being treated.
