It may be a bit late but BTS' golden maknae Jungkook personally apologized for disappointing fans when he violated social distancing rules during his visit to a club in Itaewon at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It can be recalled that four idols including BTS' Jungkook, SEVENTEEN's Mingyu,  ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, and NCT's Jaehyun came under fire when they were, reportedly, spotted in Itaewon last April amid an advisory issued by health officials to steer clear of the area, SCMP reported.

It can be recalled that a man was found positive of the virus after visiting several bars in Itaewon in early May. A total of 170 people including clubgoers, family members, and colleagues also tested positive of the disease soon after.

While the agencies of the four idols apologized on their behalf and said that their visit happened before the health advisory, Cha Eun Woo and Jaehyun posted their personal apologies on social media as well, which was met with mixed reactions.

Some fans appreciated the two idols' efforts to reach out and repent for their actions while some criticized the letters for being too similar. Fans suspected that the two friends conferred with each other before posting their letters online.

Jungkook was also criticized severely for his irresponsible behavior with some fans even petitioning the Blue House to revoke the BTS member's Cultural Merit Award.

Meanwhile, Jungkook, Mingyu, Eun Woo, and Jaehyun's agencies all confirmed that the artists underwent COVID-19 testing and came out negative of the virus. They also showed no symptoms of contracting the disease.

In a recent interview on Suga's radio show Honey FM 06.13, Jungkook took the time to apologize to fans and explain his side, All Kpop reported.

In his statement, Jungkook said that he feels apologetic to those who were inconvenienced and disappointed with his actions. He said he feels sorry for those who are working hard everywhere, his BTS members, and the BTS ARMY fandom.

He said his heart hurt that they had a difficult time because of him. He also assured that he took the time to reflect on his behavior and promised that he will be more serious when he does things in the future.

It can be recalled that at the height of the controversy, ARMYs stood by Jungkook to defend him against those who were criticizing his actions. Big Hit Entertainment also assured that he will be more mindful of his actions, moving forward.
