In a rare interview, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, talked about her family and how she wants her children to live a simple life. Prince Edward's wife admitted she had frustrations when she gave up her career to become a royal family when she married the Earl of Wessex in 1999.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, revealed despite being a royal, Prince Edward is a very hands-on father. Although they are part of the monarchy, they are still living a normal life.
Even though they can get all the help they need, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's youngest son helps his wife with their everyday chores. He can cook, especially barbecue, that their kids love.
He also takes their son, James, Viscount Severn, fishing and riding with their daughter, Lady Louise Windsor. He is a very engaged father who always bonds with his kids.
Prince Edward and Sophie try their bests to give James and Lady Louise a private life since they were born. They only appear to select royal events every year. They also go to regular schools and visit their friends for sleepovers and parties.
On weekends, they tend to have a family day. They walk the dog and stay with their friends.
Sophie understands that not everyone's grandparents live in a castle. However, it is not important where they are heading or who they are. Whenever James and Lady Louise are with Queen Elizabeth, "she is their grandmother."
Although they all have the advantages and privileges for being a member of the royal family, the 55-year-old makes them understand that "they are very likely" to go to work and earn for a living. It is the reason behind their decision not to use HRH titles. Even though they have them, they can only decide to use them when they turn 18, but she thinks it is "highly unlikely" to happen.
Sophie wants to see Lady Louise go to a university, although she will never force her to do it. She finds her a very clever young lady, so it may probably happen.
According to Mirror Online, Lady Louise is about to take her GCSEs, but the COVID-19 lockdown happened. However, she is not sure what James wants when he grows up.
Meanwhile, Sophie used to have her own PR firm when she tied the knot with Prince Edward in 1999. She even described herself as a "feminist" who believes in "equality for everyone." However, she gave up her career to be a full-time royal, who is now known for being one of hardest working royal family members.
