Piers Morgan hit out at another royal family member, and it was not Meghan Markle this time. The veteran journalist talked about Prince Andrew on Good Morning Britain, saying he should respond to the United States investigators' call to question him and be accountable of his actions.
Along with his co-host Susanna Reid, Piers Morgan discussed the sex abuse allegations Prince Philip faced. Although the Duke of York insisted that he had been cooperating with the American prosecutors, the latter said otherwise.
The 55-year-old broadcaster tackled the U.S.'s demand to allow Sarah Ferguson's former husband to be questioned over his connection with the criminal sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He also mentioned the allegations one of the paedophile's victims, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, made that the prince had sex with her in three different occasions, including the time when she was only 17.
Good Morning Britain earlier reported that Giuffre made those claims in Florida, where the age of consent is 18. The television personality clarified that "she was not below the age of consent" in the locations that the incidents, allegedly, took place, Mirror Online reported.
Piers Morgan also cleared that Prince Andrew, so far, refused to be "accountable" for any of his alleged actions. So, he firmly believed that the duke should be responsible for what he, allegedly, did.
Reid added that the father-of-two repeatedly denied all the allegations made against him. Piers Morgan continued that he could deny it to an interview with FBI, under oath, which might "have more merit."
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman claimed that Prince Andrew "has repeatedly declined" their request to arrange an interview. He also accused him of falsely portraying himself as "eager to cooperate" with the inquiry regarding Jeffrey Epstein, BBC noted.
Prince Andrew's lawyers denied the allegations that their client refused to cooperate. They said the duke even offered his help to the American investigators three times.
U.S. Attorney General William Barr cleared to Fox News that Prince Andrew would not be extradited. It was not about handing him over to the U.S., but just asking him to provide some evidence about the case.
Berman has been hitting at Prince Andrew in the past. In January, he said the prince never provided any cooperation and "completely shut the door" on them in March. Andrew's lawyers, alternatively, said that the claim is "inaccurate."
