Anna Kendrick has been known for her role in the Twilight movie series as Jessica, Bella's (Kirsten Stewart) friend at the fictional Forks High School. Twelve years after they made the first movie, the 34-year-old star opened up about her experience, saying it was like "surviving a hostage situation."
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Anna Kendrick revealed Twilight was just her third movie at the time. The singer did not deny that the film helped her career "to new heights." However, filming the movie in Portland, Oregon, was "cold and miserable" for her.
When director Catherine Hardwick saw her in the Sundance movie, Rocket Science, the filmmaker asked her to audition. She thought it was a "blow-off audition," doing everything she could so that she could be called for other possible projects.
So, when she got the role, it was a huge shock. The first movie installment was shot in Portland, Oregon, and she recalled how it was so cold and miserable. Her shoes got soaked through that although she knew that she could be friends with everyone, she wanted to murder them. Even though it was a "bonding experience," something about it was like going through "some trauma event," such as surviving a "hostage situation" that made them "bonded for life."
When Anna Kendrick did the second movie, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, fortunately, the weather was not that quite intense. From here, they started knowing each other better. When she returned for the third film, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, she questioned why they did her character a valedictorian despite being a mean student. Although she just delivered her speech as scripted, some said it was "really moving."
Hollywood Life revealed Anna Kendrick also dished about her experience in her final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn Part 1. When she did the wedding scene, she once again felt that those people were weird.
She felt like she was like a "half-frozen mud" in the final scene of filming for everybody. She would come in and work for a week or two and would see everybody else giving their "blood, sweat, and tears" for the project for several months.
When she showed up at the end, she was like they all did it and it was over, raising her hands for victory. From there, Anna Kendrick went on to do Pitch Perfect movie franchise. She also provided the lead voice for the two Trolls animated movies.
