Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, have been staying inside Birkhall since the start of the lockdown. Following his contraction of the novel coronavirus, the royal couple has since observed social isolation in their royal residence in Scotland.

For the better part of the lockdown in the United Kingdom, the Prince of Wales and his wife have reportedly set up a "virtual" office in the property. This is where they perform most of their engagements with the use of various virtual platforms.

Earlier this week, though, after the "mini" Trooping The Colour on the grounds of Windsor Castle, Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, made their first major public appearances, according to the Daily Express.

As reported, the senior royal couple "surprised" the staff at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. They reportedly met "around 20 key" NHS workers in the vicinity while they all observe the strict social distancing guidelines. It is said, however, that the couple did not wear gloves nor masks during the visit.

The Prince of Wales and his wife reportedly stayed for half an hour to chat with the staff of the hospital. As stated, Camilla shared her praise toward the key workers and told them that they were the "best of Britain." She also said that they did the "most remarkable things" amid the current crisis, the reports added.

Following the visit, Prince Charles reportedly spoke with ITV to share his admiration and appreciation toward the frontline workers. As reiterated, he described the meeting as a "marvelous" considering that he and his wife had been given the chance to see and meet the people, who have been "literally" working "on the frontline." He also reportedly thought that the public's "appreciation" toward the NHS has grown these days amid the pandemic crisis.

With their recent appearance, experts said that Prince Charles is taking back the "spotlight" from the Cambridge couple, Prince William and Kate Middleton, according to Cheat Sheet. As explained, many reportedly believe that he is now taking the lead from the young royal couple after they have been branded as the "face" of the modern British Monarchy amid the crisis.

Although the Prince of Wales did not reportedly comment on these claims, the publication said that his first major appearance led many royal experts to believe so. Also, it is stated that he and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are expected to perform another public royal engagement next week.
