Barron Trump, President Donald Trump and Melania Trump's son, was once again used as a subject of an insensitive tweet to mock his father. Famed Food Network host John Henson made a thoughtless post on Twitter, insinuating that the POTUS is not the child's dad.
On Father's Day, John Henson, a regular critic of Donald Trump, tweeted that he hoped Barron Trump would get to spend the special day with "whoever" his dad is. As Melania Trump has yet to address the issue, her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, could not help herself but fired back at the talk show host.
In a statement sent to The Hill, the former press secretary said it was a sad thing to continue seeing "inappropriate and insensitive comments" about the presidential son. Aside from her reaction, the 52-year-old insensible tweet also received criticisms from other social media users after it went viral.
Joe Pags Pagliarulo tweeted that the left is once again attacking the young kid. He said their inability to hide their hate is disgusting. He also added that he had stopped anyone on his timeline or show from attacking the presidential kids, even former President Barack Obama's daughters, Sasha or Malia.
JT Lewis also questioned Twitter for allowing its users to attack Barron Trump again. He also said that it was pathetic to see media figures and powerful adults harassing a child.
Anyhow, Henson tried to explain the meaning of his tweet, saying he was not joking about the kid but his father, Donald Trump. The mere mention of the 14-year-old kid's name did not mean that it was "at his expense."
With respect, I think you dissecting it is the issue. The joke was aimed at Trump and the mere mention of Barron’s name doesn’t mean it’s at his expense.
Although I respect your right to take issue with it. — John Henson (@John_Henson) June 21, 2020
It was not the first time that Barron Trump's name was dragged into the issue of his father. To recall, in December, law professor Pamela Karlan mentioned his name in what looked like a "strained joke" while giving a testimony during the House impeachment hearing of the President, USA Today noted.
At the time, she said that although Donald Trump could name his son Barron, it did not mean that he could make him a baron. Although Melania Trump is known for not getting herself into the issues of her husband in public, she could not help herself but speak out sharply when her only son was being dragged into it.
In a tweet, she said a "minor child deserved privacy and should be kept out of politics." Melania Trump even called out Karlan, saying she should be ashamed of her angry and biased public pandering and even used a child to do it. Karlan later apologized.
